by: Jason Anson

A Digital Marketing Specialist is a person who manages “search engine optimization (SEO), paid search (PPC), display media, social media and shopping feeds.”. [1] Typically a Digital Marketing Specialist works alongside a marketing team to implement campaigns using digital media formats of all kinds.

For those interested in learning what the role includes, I suggest reading Herzing College’s “What exactly does a digital marketing specialist do?”[2] Where they list

  1. Generate leads (attract new potential customers)
  2. Optimize conversion (make sure more new leads actually turn into customers)
  3. Track and continuously improve results (monitor and report on performance using data)

The College further writes that as Digital Marketing Specialist you can expect to do the following task:

  • copywriting
  • social media management
  • principles of SEO (search engine optimization)
  • working with video and graphics
  • Google Analytics
  • reputation monitoring
  • how to analyze target audiences
  • basics of online advertising
  • how to develop a digital marketing strategy
  • how to use common Content Management Systems (like WordPress)
